Hola Happy Friday, hopefully you guys are too fried yet. I got next week off, so I’m off the clock for a week. I’ll be potting the psychodrama rebuilds for sixth grade. So So if anybody out there that has a volunteer or wants to come back and do it. The next workshop is August 4 and 11th. Volunteering is a great way to pay it forward, if, especially if you’ve done this work, and also to wake up stuff inside of you, you, you literally will be defrosting. It’ll be awesome, guys. So I’m working on chapter 37 I skipped 36 because I wanted to make 37 tied to my 73rd birthday, which was Monday. I’m going to read you guys the first paragraph. This is a topic. As I’ve gotten older, I came to realize more and more and more actually, it was when I was 37 when this really hit me big time. When I got sober, I just thought of that. Oh my gosh. So that’s the year I finally woke up and realized there is something out there greater than me. I thought I was God, or the higher power, or whatever. So let me read this chapter. The the title of the chapter is turning 73 has clarified the need to believe in something greater than ourselves. I was blessed to celebrate my 73rd year on July 15 with my with my twin brother, Tim. Over these years, I have become aware of many issues that causes stress and worry. However, there’s one which most of us are prone to fall into its trap. It’s invisible and very elusive, which makes it easy to overlook. It tries to control and manipulate our life in a very subtle, very subtle ways, which, if we are not aware, can destroy our lives, literally, like my addiction almost did. It camouflages itself as an i ally, like a con man who entices us to give over our money for a good cause. The problem is that it is a primitive psychological entity and is only concerned about survival, material goods, acceptance and being in the limelight, it makes us believe that everything we have comes from our own merits. When we’re under its spell, we become inflated and arrogant, with no room for humility. We begin to think the world revolves around us, which can be a very nice feeling. Who wouldn’t fall for its enticing elixir. Unfortunately, I drank its elixir for many years, and believed I was Rocky in the ring with Apollo Creed. But you know what they say about pride before the fall? And that is what my cocaine addiction taught me. The Fall happens for us, not to us, for us to get us to surrender to something greater than our ego. The ego thinks it’s God with a small g, and we aren’t aware that it has hijacked our lives. It’s like a virus. Fortunately, it is never too late to reset and become humble again. Otherwise, we’ll be lost in the wilderness, like many of our friends. So let’s discuss what I mean by the ego and believing in something greater than ourselves. So on my birthday, my friend Annie, called me to wish me happy birthday, and she told me an interesting I told her I was writing this, and she told me an interesting definition of for ego that I had never heard before. She said ego is edging God out. And that made so much sense to me, it was like epiphany time, because the ego thinks it’s in control of everything. Watch yourself when you get upset about something, something triggers you. You get disappointed, etc, etc. It’s usually the ego setting us up. It should be this way. It should go this way. Okay, no, but the ego thinks it knows everything. It’s it’s smarter than God. And you know, in the second paragraph I had written, I’m not a big fan of the word God, because that brings up a lot of our childhood beliefs in that. I like to call it a higher consciousness, a higher power, you know something else, because people get triggered by that word. But if you want to use god, that’s fine, too. The Jews write a G, hyphen D. They’re not allowed to write the word God, because we start to define and make up stuff like we were taught as little Catholics. This guy on a throne with a beard and nice cake. And all these angels around them. God is in essence, okay, but the essence is what’s running creation. It’s kind of like the nature of you know, your essence is your nature. Well, God, if you think of God as an essence, it’s the nature of creation. It’s what’s running the show here, driving the bus. Now, we have a choice. I had a choice, but it wasn’t till I was 37 that I finally decided to make the choice. I got off my ego path and got into my higher power path, and ever since then, things have gotten better and better and better. You know, this whole thing about stress and worry, and I hear it seven days a week in my office from people, because that’s the ego. It’s it tells you boogie man stories. It tells you fake stories, how things should be and things you worry about. You know, if you could, we do this thing in our office. Sometimes at the psychodrama we blindfold the person and we have fall backwards. Now they have no idea we’re standing back there with blankets so they don’t land on the floor and hurt themselves. But I’ve done this with many people in the last few years to show them they have to surrender. But you know what the ego hates to surrender. It will fight to the bitter end, and that’s what I see in us all the time, because it doesn’t mind those who want to give up. Rabbi Joel told a story once about the serpent in the Garden of Eden. He said the serpent should have been Adam’s helpmate, but the serpent got carried away, got a little arrogant. Well, think of your ego as your helpmate, not your master, because the ego does help us survive, you know, keeps us safe in that but what it’s the master? Your life becomes master crazy because you believe in all that stuff. That’s why I shared this. I wanted to do this chapter because so many people, young and old, but especially the young people you know, they’re so arrogant, they’re so egotistical. They know everything. They have trouble surrendering, but they weren’t taught like my generation, to believe in something greater than yourself, and again, make that whatever you want it to be. I like quantum field. That’s Joe Dispenza term. I love that a lot. But if you can surrender to what is, you know, I did a chapter, I think, Chapter 30, based on Michael singer’s book the surrender experiment. It’s a wonderful book. It’s his life story. You guys got ever get a chance to read it, because he decided in his early 20s to start surrendering to something greater than himself. And Michael’s a little bit older than me. Now he’s all over YouTube talking, but his life was amazing. It started out I was going, he bought five acres of land in Florida after school. Or when he dropped out, he said, I’m going to just meditate new yoga for the rest of my life. But he’s starting to say yes more, yes to everything. And lo and behold, this guy runs a billion dollar computer business that does health insurance, whatever they do for the health insurance of that, he had no idea that was going to come, that was on his life path. But by saying yes, think of how many times you resist stuff. See, basically that’s giving God the figure. Here comes my neighbor. Yo, alright, good. He’s not walking every day. He’s a health nut like I am. But basically what you don’t surrender you. You’re You’re God blocking God. Give him the figure. So just chew on this. Ask yourself, is it better to believe in what you believe in the ego and make reality turn into what you wanted to, like Michael singer says, or is it better to surrender to everything that’s going on and just letting the forces that created this reality drive the bus? Took me 37 years to get there, but I’m sure happy I got there. Alright, listen, enjoy your weekend. God bless you guys. We’re doing that breath rebirthing class, breath work on Sunday the 21st if anybody wants to come and clean out your lungs and clean out your guck, come and check it’s at 1030 so just show up. It’s only $20 you can’t beat the price, all right. Love you guys. God bless you. Bye.
